Give Your Glass Candle Containers a Second Life: How To Clean Your Used Candle Containers

Have you ever wondered what to do with those beautiful glass candle containers once your favorite candle has burned down to its last flicker? Instead of tossing them away, why not give them a new lease on life? With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can transform these containers into useful and stylish items for your home. First step is to clean your containers - please see instructions below:

  1. Remove Wax Residue: Start by placing your glass candle container in the freezer for a few hours or overnight. This will cause the remaining wax to harden and shrink away from the container's walls, making it easier to remove. Once the wax is frozen, use a butter knife or spoon to gently pry it out. If the wax doesn't come out easily, you can use the knife to break it into smaller pieces and remove them one by one. Alternatively, pour boiling water into the container to melt the wax. After the wax has melted, carefully pour it out into a disposable container or wipe it away with paper towels. Be cautious when handling hot wax to avoid burns.

  2. Clean the Container: Once the wax has been removed, wash the container with warm, soapy water to remove any remaining residue. You can use a sponge or soft cloth to scrub the inside of the container, and a small brush or toothbrush can help clean any stubborn spots. Rinse the container thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue.

  3. Melt Off Labels: If your glass candle container has a label or sticker on it, you'll want to remove it to give the container a clean look. To do this, use a hairdryer to heat the label for a few minutes until the adhesive softens. Then, carefully peel off the label and wipe away any remaining residue with a cloth or paper towel. You can also use rubbing alcohol or an adhesive remover if needed.

  4. Polish and Dry: Once the container is clean and free of wax and labels, use a soft cloth to polish it and remove any water spots. Allow the container to air dry completely before using it for your next project.

By following these simple cleaning instructions, you can effectively remove wax residue and labels from your glass candle containers, leaving them clean, shiny, and ready to be repurposed for your next DIY project. For ideas on what to reuse your containers for read our article _____________
